Business Casual Dressing Tips
Deciding what to wear for the office can be quite a challenging task, especially if you like to add your own sense of fashion to their wardrobe. Most companies have a dress code that usually limits your desire to express your personal style. However, some workplaces have adopted a new policy where you can “dress down” on a certain date of the week, and this is known as a “business casual” day.
However, wearing your favourite pair of faded designer jeans and your sparkly tube top is still not generally acceptable. Crisp and professional-looking office skirts, pants, dresses, and jackets are typically still required, but this time, you can be a bit more experimental with the suit materials and shirt designs that you use. Silk and cotton undershirts with short or cap sleeves, and those that are knitted, are allowable, but it is still recommended to cover them up with a corporate jacket.
Some companies are even more lenient and allow their staff to don city or long shorts, dark denim jeans or knee-length skirts, and open-toed shoes or sandals. Nevertheless, it would be best to ask your human resource department or your superior if these types of clothing are acceptable in your workplace.
If you are stuck with the typical business suit, include a flair of fashion to it with your accessories. Beautify your corporate attire by experimenting with scarves, purses, and jewellery that can depict your personal style without going outside the bounds of your required company dress code.
